7 pitches. 4 routes. Lots of Bobs. Just another day at the Gunks with this awesome guide, Sue Kligerman.
When you think you know everything about climbing, there's still something you don't. Senior guide and instructor, Sue Kligerman reviews how to stay safe on a ledge.

If you do a single climb this season, this is the one you should do! Climb Those Gunks, Baby! is an adventure designed as a BEGINNER/TRAINING, but in the best outdoor setting in the northeast, the Shawangunk Ridge.
The guide/instructor is Sue Kligerman, who lead me up epic climb, High Exposure, and is not only an awesome teacher for ladies who want to learn to climb the same way Sue learned; but an awesome teacher for dudes, too, because, yeah, she instructs our finest soldiers on how to climb as the West Point climbing instructor. So, don't be skirred, bring your bf/gf/bff, and relax, 'cause I'll be your official cameraman, so you can focus on climbing while I get plenty of pics of you being awesome! We'll be spending enough time out there so everyone gets to climb as much as they want.
We'll be meeting in front of the Schnippers at the ground floor of the New York Times Building on 41st street and 8th ave at 7:45am and walking over as a group to the Port Authority on 41st and 8th ave to buy our roundtrip tickets to New Paltz, NY ($42). When we arrive, Sue will be there to greet us and drive us the 6 miles to the Mohonk Preserve, where we'll be outfitted with any gear we need, then, hike in, set up, and get climbing. Gear, pick up/drop off to park and bus station, park admission, and Sue's time are $115.
Here's what to pack for this time of the year. Hashtag for this hike is #climbthosegunks
