Bear Mountain's lesser known cousin, Dunderberg Mountain, presents an awesome 7-mile loop just south of the famous resort mountain (once destined to be a NYS prison!) Bring lots of water and bug spray. This hike is serious on hot days. But with epic views preceded by epic scrambling, you don't want to miss this trip!
We'll be meeting in front of the Schnippers at the ground floor of the New York Times Building on 41st street and 8th ave at 8am and walking over as a group to the Port Authority on 41st and 8th ave to take the 8:45a Shortline Bus headed to Bear Mountain-West Point (buy round trip, $36). We will be returning on the 5:19p bus back.
