Outerthere Lake Kittatinny Easy Hike

Original trip description:

We're headed to Kittatinny Valley State Park in NJ for a loop around Lake Kittatinny. We'll be hiking roughly 7 miles, with gradual elevation via one of the highest points in the region, Highpoint State Park (remember, it's called "highpoint" for a reason, so get ready to sweat!) But relax, because at the end of the hike, yes, there's an awesome, swimmable lake to cool off in! If you're down for that, bring your swim suits and goggles (there's a huge changing area, serving food and drinks, too). Departure time is promptly at 8am (don't be late) from the Dunkin Donuts at the 36th Ave N (or Q) train station in Astoria Queens. It's a 2-hour drive with breaks, so we'll be arriving around 10am. I reserved a super comfy SUV for the whole day to accommodate up to 9 hikers (we'll figure it out) so I'm asking everyone who's going to chip in $39 each (which covers $176 for the minivan, about $20 for tolls roundtrip, about $60 for gas roundtrip and a $20/vehicle, non-resident parking fee to the park, because it's Jersey and that's how they roll, all divided by 7 hikers, including me). I originally asked for $25 and apologize for the change; I thought the Zipcar would be $147 and include tolls and gas. Turns out they charge my credit card after. Lesson learned. If you're getting there on your own, let me know if you're willing to give another hiker a ride. Please respond to this email if you're interested in coming.
