Even locals couldn’t keep us away from this secret watering hole!
I originally thought this was gonna be a 10-mile hike. As the date approached, I realized it was just 3 miles. OK, no problem.
I originally thought that this particular location had cliffs you can just jump off from. When we found the visitor center, the volunteer not only told us there were no cliffs, but that swimming was illegal, punishable by $100 to $500 fines. WTF. We hiked the 3 miles, but since we didn't see any place to jump, we just kept hiking. After this disappointing news, we regrouped, asked some locals, and sure enough, there was a place. We followed their directions, but ended up hiking another 4 or 5 miles. We were so lost, everyone was getting cranky, hungry, and some even got injured. The truth is, we walked every trail in that park and through the sheer process of elimination, and the size of our group, actually ended up finding the place because there was literally no place else to go. And when we got there, wow... well, see for yourself.
