2022-2023 Snow Season - East Newbie
Stay away from these small mountains, bro.
Not only did winter show up fashionably late, it snuck in through the back. And hung out with the small mountains.
Lifty ONLY visited smaller mountains this winter which made this the most AMAZING skiing and snowboarding season we've EVER experienced in 10 years(!) of east coast snowboarding/skiing, especially these last few weeks of back-to-back March snow storms.
And since it was “end of the season”, everyone mostly stayed home, leaving the mountains to anyone lucky enough to have been there.
Seriously, these conditions are so rare, even ski patrol were shocked and giddy. It was the most amazing day on the snow all season. Period.
Snow bros might be saying, Whatever, bro. Those small indy mountains only got like 2 lifts, bro. And at 1,000 feet of elevation, this little hill ain't worth my time, bro.
They'd rather travel 2 more hours north to big, brand name Vermont Mountain that got less snow and more ice, more lifts with longer lines and everything costs double, because it's "epic", bro.
Do you, bro. Leave these smaller mountains to the rest of us.
Does a beginner actually care where they go skiing or snowboarding for the first time? Probably not. Especially if the mountain has plenty of space for learning areas, beginner-friendly trails, fewer crowds and just more affordable for anyone who isn't a billionaire.
Spending an awesome day on the mountain shouldn't leave you feeling broke or unwelcome because you don't look like everyone else or you didn’t spend a fortune on gear.
We work really hard to make these activities accessible and welcoming for you even if it's your very first time ever.
Thanks to everyone who trusted Outerthere and Lifty Trips to introduce them to skiing or snowboarding this year 🙏
And a special shout out to trip hosts David and Pam who introduced a couple dozen beginners to skiing 🙌
