2020 Yoga Day Retreat Series
Like hiking, yoga can be a little intimidating when you first start. There are dozens of varieties. Everyone else’s bodies seem so bendy next to yours. And once you’re in deep, the politics… The same can be said about pretty much any outdoor activity. And although yoga and the outdoors want you to try it, neither try very hard to welcome you. Especially since no one tells you that it’s not about type, bendiness or politics - it’s about the people supporting you through it.
In 2020, we introduced short yoga practices to our hikes in collaboration with Zuri Ruiz Yoga and they made a terrific addition to our wellness hikes. The idea being that doing yoga indoors wasn’t an option and doing it by yourself doesn’t always motivate you to do it. Bringing fam together outdoors to share their love of yoga and go at their own pace in a natural setting became the sort of relief we all needed.
