Kayaking Inside an Abandoned Mine

Kayaking Inside an Abandoned Mine

We can’t believe we can do this in New York!

This past weekend, our friends over at the Adventure Scouting Agency scouted a trip that’s been on our bucket list for years.

They scouted the abandoned Widow Jane cement mine in upstate New York to see if this trip was safe and doable by a larger group.

And here’s the key phrase that they reported back:

“It was a short trip. About 30 minutes total in the water. But the sensation of being in the mine's pool was like floating in space. It was amazing!

“No current, no wind resistance. A light paddle generated enough momentum to move you anywhere.

“And the patterns forming in the water from our paddle were down-right artistic, especially as we explored the deepest, untouched corners of the cave.

“It was one of the most peaceful, adrenaline-inducing experiences we’ve ever scouted!”

When the ASA agents got back to dry land, it was to an audience of two photographers who watched in amazement as they emerged from the dark, quiet space, packed up and vanished as if nothing happened. The look on their faces, They didn’t know they could kayak in there!

Well, now you can exclusively through Outerthere. And if you’re interested in trying it, sign up here.
