Pre Season Hike 2019 (In Honor of Charlie Cook of Wild Earth Adventures)
By some accounts, Charlie Cook of Wild Earth Adventures is the godfather of NYC group hiking. (OK, really, just by our account). You can trace the origins of nearly every professional guiding service in NYC to him in one way or another, including Outerthere Adventures. Charlie was a beast, taking groups hiking easy or strenuous hikes back to back every weekend, 50 weekends a year, no sweat (even in his 60s and 70s!) He was always jovial, never once getting offended no matter what anyone said and hiked in the exact same khaki pants and light blue tee or nature shirt, with the same ol’ brown boots each and every time. He was more than happy to impart his outdoor business wisdom when ask, wisdom that still holds true today. Sadly, Charlie passed away October 2018 from cancer and we set up this memorial hike to honor Charlie and his impact on our community. Although this wasn’t a trip Charlie had done, we're sure he’d approve of the epic views and awesome company! Thank you Charlie! R.I.P.
